Socitm is a membership organisation running professional and commercial activities. The Society operates under a single legal entity, Socitm Limited (a company limited by guarantee), and is known as Socitm on a day to day basis.
Members of the Society are the members of the company with voting rights for all full members of the Society.
Full membership is currently open to persons directly employed by the public sector and who have a major influence within their organisation on matters of ICT strategy, policy or delivery functions.
The Society also has associate, affiliate, retired and subscriber membership open to those who meet the appropriate criteria.
The Socitm Board of Directors (SBD) is the Society’s senior decision making body responsible for implementing and monitoring policies of the Society. On accepting the new Articles of Association at the recent EGM we endorsed the creation of a new advisory body - the National Advisory Council (NAC). This group will bear responsibility for both advising and challenging the Board on all isues relating to the operation and development of the Society. Further details regarding the remit and composition of the NAC will be available here following the first NAC meeting sheduled to take place 23rd September 2008.
The National Advisory Council is the main body representing Socitm’s membership interests. Its core functions are to hold the Socitm Board and Management responsible through a Scrutiny Programme, to set the membership agenda and priorities, and to nominate or ratify the Socitm Futures membership.
Socitm Futures is the group responsible for the formulation of policy on behalf of the Society. The group's remit is to undertake research and “Horizon Scanning” activities and recommend policy to the NAC. Although Socitm Futures must respond to the NAC as the main body responsible for members’ interests, it will have a degree of autonomy to enable it to respond quickly to change.
There are two divisions within Socitm, the Membership Services Division and the Commercial Services Division, each with its own board. They are concerend with the oversight, coordination and development of all membership and regional issues and our commercial activities respectively.
Socitm has twelve regions, each of which has its own elected chair, secretary, and committee. for further details see our Regional pages.
