Performance Management Group

Socitm's Performance Management Group (PMG) provides information and best practice advice around performance management and benchmarking.  The Group also manages the Socitm Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the Socitm KPI Database.

Originally set up in response to Best Value legislation, PMG develops thinking, coordinates reaction and defines the broad needs of members in relation to Best Value and also the Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) process which operates in England.

The Group meets four times a year and acts as a channel, informing members about developments and providing a means of coordinating views to feed back to Government.

The Society works with partners to deliver the practical advice and the support required. The issues that are addressed are:

  • Best Value and the Law
  • Competitiveness
  • Quality and Performance
  • Partnership
  • Modernisation
  • Improvement

PMG has created a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that facilitate comparison between organisations. These are well regarded as indicators of the health and effectiveness of an ICT function. The KPIs and their definitions can be viewed on this site, in the Services section under benchmarking, together with details of a number of benchmarking services that have been created on the back of the back of the indicators.

Socitm is now the custodian for the National e-Service delivery standard (NeSDS), a copy of the present version for ICT and customer services can be downloaded below.

Version 2 of the standard is being developed during 2008.
