SIAG exists to:
identify, and proactively influence, the present and future developments within information age government in such ways that best serve the needs of all our members and the wider local government community through;
- promoting the strategic importance of the application of appropriate technologies for the successful and continued development of information age government and the implementation of key policy outcomes and service improvement.
- creating and maintaining a culture within which our members can acquire new skills and knowledge to equip them for effective management, exploitation and application of technology and continuous personal development within an information age environment.”
Within this general remit SIAG will:
- advise Socitm's members on all information age issues
- contribute to the development of key policies, working with central and local government bodies
- advise private sector suppliers on the development of products
- support and contribute to the development of standards
- seek, in collaboration with partners, to define the skills required to deliver effective and efficient government .
Main activities and services:
The information age group offers a range of services that inform, equip and involve members and the wider local authority community through:
- the provision of timely, relevant, interactive and personalised information to all Socitm members
- the creation of opportunities for active involvement in strategy and policy formation,
- the provision, maintenance and development of processes to allow consultation and feedback on a range of relevant issues,
The key services are:
- Bi monthly meetings (main meeting and implementation group)
- Personalised information provision (Government Exchange)
- Regular activity reports and briefings
- Consultations
- Engagement, on behalf of members, with partners and stakeholders
