Socitm's mission is to improve public services through technology. Within this, the Socitm Insight role is to identify and promote good practice in the management of ICT in the local public sector.
You can access information about Socitm Insight services in the Services section of the website. Access to Insight publications and other resources is from the Library section.
Socitm Insight's service takes the form of publications, printed and electronic, and other valued added services related to those publications. The topics are focused very much on strategic issues related to the e-government programme and now the transformation and efficiency agenda. In particular, the service aims to guide subscribers about issues that are just over the horizon in order to help them plan better for the future and to influence decision makers locally and nationally, all in the support of Socitm’s objectives
These products and services are focused on the local public sector, rather than other parts such as central government and the NHS. However, increasingly the service should broaden its appeal so that it relates to the public sector as a whole, as the different parts strive to collaborate further in joining up government.
We operate as a subscription service available to all organsiations with an interest in the pubic sector. As at 30 November around 528 organisations subscribed to the service. including 92% of local authorities.
Socitm Insight is managed by the Socitm Insight Activity Group (also known as the Socitm Insight Steering Group), whose chair sits on the Socitm National Council.
