Further information
Social inclusion, of which digital inclusion is a part, is high on the agenda for Local Area Agreements (LAAs), Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) and the Local Government White Paper “Strong and Prosperous Communities” which emphasises responsive services and empowered communities.
Local authorities are putting more and more information and services online. The people your Council most needs to reach are being excluded from the access channels that enable the greatest delivery cost savings. If your Council is not using technology in innovative ways, you could be further excluding your most vulnerable customers and not making the savings you need.
The research project is about identifying why digital inclusion is often not embedded in social inclusion projects and how best to build professional capacity to tackle digital exclusion. The aim is to ensure that those who are currently digitally excluded are brought into the mainstream - and corresponding savings are made in the delivery of public services - via the innovative use of technology.
We need your views and experience at the workshops, which take place in November and December in Sunderland, Birmingham, Bristol and London.
Detailed agendas and directions to the venues will be available on registering.
