Further information

The next Socitm South West regional event on will be sponsored by Cisco and should be a very interesting, topical and informative event including the following sessions:

  1. Adrian Hancock, Socitm’s MD will be coming to explain the key changes to the membership structure of the Society, giving an overview of changes and organisation through 2008 and covering future strategy and plans, building on Richard Steele’s session in June.

  1. A very topical session will be an update on Gov Connect and progress and plans in the region. Devon has been identified as a key case study and we will be showing a video made by Gov Connect of the work and plans here. We will also hear from colleagues at Plymouth and Torbay on their work and of the need for standards and policies around Information Management in this area. Simon Fisher from Gov Connect will update us on the national picture, including CoCo progress(and annual review/audits).

  1. Assurix has been doing some considerable work around Govconnect/GCSx and Data Leakage, and is liaising with various local authorities across the UK and the compliance around log management. Gabriella White from the company will explain the work they are doing and in particular the key steps to compliance in this important area.

  1. Chris Blenkhorn will be Cisco's presenter on the day. Chris leads Cisco’s thought leadership Public Sector Practice within Cisco and will discuss the need for an  ‘architectural approach’.

  1. John Serle,  editor of Socitm’s IT Trends publication, will outline the key findings from this year’s report. This is ‘hot off the press’ and precedes the publication of the report, so be the first to hear!

As well as Socitm business session, we will be having short AGM in the afternoon, and members’ input will be valuable in formulating regional plans/activities in 2009.
