Professional development

Socitm runs a range of schemes to help members with their own professional development and that of colleagues for whom they are responsible. Our jobs pages, accessible from the link opposite, allow members and others to advertise and view current public sector vacancies in the fields of ICT and e-government management.

Socitm courses can be accessed from this link. Our other training and development schemes comprise:

A Continuing Professional Development Scheme which provides a way of recording formally activities which members should normally be undertaking to maintain and improve their professional skills, so making such activities 'visible' to employers and colleagues.

The Graham Williamson Challenge is a travel award to enable a young person starting out in ICT to undertake a short (up to a month) period of work experience abroad in order to broaden their understanding and knowledge of ICT in a wider public sector context.

The MBA scheme provides for up to five members a year to be sponsored through MBA programmes run by the Open University. The scheme is part of Socitm's initiative to equip ICT managers with the competencies they need to take their place in the boardroom.

Socitm's Mentoring scheme is a source of help and guidance to those new to ICT Senior Management as well as more experienced ICT managers looking for occasional support and advice.
