Socitm Insight has developed a range of spin-off services from Better connected, its annual survey of all UK local authority websites.

The Website Assessment Service is provided by the Better connected project team. It consists of several elements, each of which can be ordered separately:

  • Standard professional review
  • Technical accessibility review (with RNIB)
  • Usability and accessibility review (with Usability Exchange)
  • Readability review (with The Writer)

Costs range from £750 to £2750 depending on the service provided and the authority type.

The Website Take-up Service has been developed to help local authorities understand much more about the profile of their website visitors and their needs.  Participating councils get information about the total number of unique visitors to their sites, why people are visiting, how they got there, what the experience was like, and whether they are likely to visit again.

Costs range from £715 to £1080 per annum depending on local authority type

Web transactions for NI 14 returns will, from January 2009, be automatically available within the data gathered for the Website take-up service.

This service does not cost anything for subscribers to the Website take-up service

Events: Socitm Insight runs a number of events each year for web developers, editors and managers, and others with responsibilities for the web channel. Details of these are published in the events section of this website, but the annual programme is described in these pages.
